Abstract
Many positive things come along with aging. The decrease in motivation to exercise is not one of them. It has been shown that as people age their desire to exercise goes down. A major concern with this is that inactivity can lead to serious health problems. The most important of these are cardiac related due to the high possibility of death that accompanies them. Therefore, it is critical to find out what motivates older adults to engage in physical activity in order to decrease the likeliness of cardiac events, and also increase the possibility of secondary prevention by increasing the amount of exercise in their population.
