Abstract

The study examines the threshold level of inflation in the US during the period 1960-2011. The model suggests the threshold level of inflation in the US is 0 to 1.5 percent quarterly. Above that threshold level, inflation has a significant negative effect on real GDP growth. Below the threshold level, the effect of inflation on real GDP growth is ambiguous.
