Abstract
To Kill a Cupid is a metatextual romantic comedy that follows Chrysanthemum Hart, a divorce lawyer dutifully married to her work. This is put on pause when Cupid barges into her life and begins matchmaking her divorced clients left and right. Doing this has put him at risk of losing his job, and Chrysanthemum desperately wishes to retain some semblance of normalcy at work. Thus, the two strike a deal for a year-long, contractually beneficial relationship: Cupid keeps his wings and Chrysanthemum’s clients are saved from his arrows. Unfortunately, she’s now stuck with him until each couple has been successfully broken up, which leads her to fondly contemplate Cupidcide as a coping mechanism. Alas, it’s not all rainbows and roses in (fake) love when countless mystical threats abound.
