Description
In this workshop, we will explore why teachers might move beyond, as Troy Hicks claims, our "focus on the many ways that we must use technology to teach writing?" (2).
Guided by Hicks and his mentors, we will showcase ways to incorporate digital writing authentically in our curriculum, using Mentor Texts to highlight the "many qualities of good [digital] writing” (7) and model and incorporate the digital writing process to help students craft real-world multimodal projects. To showcase such an approach, this workshop will showcase ways to amplify voice using authentic digital writing assignments such as podcasts and video essays.
Target Audience: 7-12 teachers across content areas.
