LIONS IN WINTER is an annual literary festival that has included author readings, craft talks by featured writers in fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction, editors panels, book fairs, and more.

The 2025 Lions in Winter festival features three internationally known writers: The Heartbreak Years author Minda Honey, teacher and the author of Maddalena and the Dark Julia Fine, and 2024 Kate Tufts Discovery Award winner Jacqui Germain.
The festival will feature an author roundtable, followed by craft talks, and a reading and reception with visiting writers and students. Events start at 12:00 PM Noon on Wednesday January 29.
The festival is free and open to the public and will be held at the Doudna Fine Arts Center on EIU's campus. Tickets are required and can be obtained from the Doudna Box Office.
