Comments
From where or whom obtained and when: Koelreuteria paniculata “September” was originally selected by Joe McDaniel from a group of three trees on the University of Indiana Campus in Bloomington, Indiana (Dirr 1998). Dr. Whiteside’s original specimen was derived from a potted plant that was a root cutting from the original plant selection from Joe McDaniel and was originally planted just south of the house where the sunroom is now. Dr. Whiteside dug up a small root sprout from this original planting around 1970 and planted it near the sidewalk south of the sunroom, which later provided another root sprout that was planted near the garage around 1980, both of these being the plants that exist today.
