Description
The birthplace of the Heath chocolate bar is Robinson, IL created by Bayard and Everett Heath in 1928. Heath bars initially marketed as a healthy snack made of only the best milk chocolate and almonds, creamery butter, and "pure sugar cane". The candy bars made by hand until 1942, when the U.S. Army ordered its first $175,000 worth because it had exceptionally long shelf life and included them into soldiers' rations throughout World War II. Since Hershey had acquired the candy bar, it is building onto its factory in town which employs over seven hundred workers in and around the local area.
