The opening program of the "Muslim Journeys" exhibit took place on January 29, 2014 in the Booth Library West Reading Room. The program featured a lecture by Dr. Brian Mann, Assistant Professor of History at Eastern Illinois University.

While Islam is firmly rooted in the Judeo-Christian religious tradition, it remains unfamiliar to many of us in the Western world. Professor Brian Mann will discuss some of the principal elements of Islamic belief and practice. is lecture will set the stage for the upcoming Muslim Journeys events and provide attendees with an understanding that, while Islam is unique among monotheisms, it also shares much with the religious traditions with which many in the West are most familiar.
