Description
When talking about art in the Muslim world, we oen think of calligraphy, geometric ornamentation, rich textiles and the supposed prohibition of gurative art in religious contexts. But throughout the complex and myriad history of the Islamic world, artistic expression has taken many additional forms, with a great deal of guration present. Book illustration, architecture, metalwork, gardens, cartography, textiles, ceramics, music and dance are only some of the art forms with a rich tradition in Islamic culture.
