Abstract
In January of 2011, Booth Library was the recipient of a Technology Improvement Award for the purchase of a new Web server. With a new enterprise-class server, it was possible to have several virtual machines running on one physical server. Using virtualization, we are able to run Microsoft Server 2008 and Ubuntu Linux as separate virtual machines on the same computer. The Linux environment is host to several open-source projects, such as call number mapping and Facebook applications. This project has been funded in part with Federal Funds from the National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health, Department of Health and Human Services, under Contract No. N01-LM-6-3503 with the University of Illinois at Chicago.
