2012 - Edible Book Festival
Event organizer: Todd Bruns
On Monday April 9th 2012, Booth Library hosted its second annual Edible Book Festival. There were 26 entries, including pieces from library staff, students, faculty, and retirees. The entries ranged from literal interpretations of books to puns on book titles.
Festival attendees could vote for their favorite exhibit and due to the high quality of the pieces nearly every entry received votes. This year the winners were:
Dean's Choice Gold Medal - "Yertle the Turtle" by Jackie Worden & Family
Dean's Choice Silver Medal - "20,000 Leeks Under the Sea" by Christine Derrickson
People's Choice Gold Medal (Most Votes) - "Gourd of the Rings" by David Bell
People's Choice Silver Medal - "I Made This Chocolate Pie Just for You (The Help)" by Arlene Brown
Student Entry Best In Show - "Tolkappiyam" by Adam Hall
Family Entry Best In Show - "Little House on the Prairie" by Tina & Katie Jenkins
Children's Book Theme Best In Show - "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by EIU Pride
Congratulations to the winners, and thank you to everyone who participated and/or attended and made the festival a fun event. I hope you were inspired to think about your entry for next year!
